Cupcakin' Bake Shop // Berkeley, CA

I can't remember if I ever officially announced it, but J got into UC Berkeley! This past weekend, our roommates from Monterey came to stay with us. We decided to BART over to Berkeley for the day and get an official tour from a very official student. It was game day, so there was a lot of people out and about! We spent the day walking around and eating all the food. Before we left that morning, I looked up a cupcake shop. The Yelp reviews were awesome, so I made sure we stopped.

Cupcakin' Bake Shop was everything I hoped it would be. It's located on Durant Street - a short walk from the campus. The outside was so stinking cute and welcoming. I spotted it from the other side of  the street and may have jay-walked ran across the street to get there.

The girl behind the counter was very pleasant and patient with us. Cupcakes are serious business and the flavor decision is crucial!

Beth got the summer berry, which was vanilla cake, vanilla frosting and fresh berries. Holy Cupcake, that was the best vanilla cake I have ever had. It was fluffy and moist and perfect.

I got the s'mores. I usually get some sort of chocolate cupcake from shops because I like to compare them all. Much to my surprise, there was an actual graham cracker crust on the bottom of the cupcake. That is my absolute favorite thing about s'mores cupcakes, but not all places do that. The crust was buttery, the cake was moist, and the marshmallow fluff was homemade and toasted. I mean seriously you guys. I'm so picky when it comes to cupcakes and I almost went back to tell her how amazing they were. They even had these super cute Berkeley cupcakes on display!

The blogger in me failed to get a mouth watering picture of our cupcakes unwrapped, but I can assure you, they were gone in 3 bites.

Stitch Fix #1

I have discovered something revolutionary! Okay, I didn't discover it, but I am introducing you to it.

Two words. Such greatness. Oh wait, those aren't the two words. The next two.

Stitch Fix.

This website is every girls dream. You answer some questions, pick a date, and a box full of designer clothes is shipped directly to your door step!

Basically, a stylist picks out 5 items for you based on your size and style. You can stay in your comfort zone or cannon ball into something crazy. You can even specify if you want a "fix" for a certain event.

They charge a $20 styling fee whether you buy clothes or not. If you do make a purchase, the $20 gets credited to that! You have three days to try the clothes on and decide which ones you want to keep. There is a bag included with a shipping label that you just put the unwanted clothes in and mail away. If you purchase all 5 items, you save 25% on the whole total plus the $20 is credited to you!!!!

No crowds. No dressing rooms. No pressure. No monthly obligations. (unless you sign up for that) Freshen up your style, whenever you want!

My stylist hooked me up for my first fix. I got a jacket, a dress, a top, leggings, and a necklace. Totally my style and they all fit perfffff! Photo cred goes to my super cool boyfriend. He has a nice camera and a lot of patience.

I loved this dress. The print. The color. The sleeves! (my pose had to show them off, of course)

(the top and the leggings were in my fix)
I loved this top!!! The color. The detail. The style. So me!!!!! It was a little short in front, so I would wear a long tank top under, but it does cover my butt in the back. :) The leggings are not see through and they are ankle length. They are a nylon/spandex mix.
This is not something I would buy for myself normally, but after trying it on, I had to! It fit  great, which is always a challenge for my long arms. It looks cool. It goes gives your waist a flattering shape. (no picture for that) And it can be worn a couple different ways. (note the two zipper options)

SWOON. This necklace is just fantastic. I recently got a tattoo on my side of waves like this and receiving this necklace was totally a coincidence. It's different and has a long chain! Totally channeling my inner mermaid.

Long post made short. I think me and my stylist just became BFFs. What are you waiting for??? Go get your fix!!!!

Diamond Candles

This is my very first (unsponsored) product post.
diamond-candle
I received my first Diamond Candle this weekend! I ordered it a couple weeks ago and I could not wait to get it. I ordered the Apple Slice.
Here's the low down.
  • $24.95 gets you a 21 ounce soy candle with a diamond ring inside! The rings range from $10, $100, $1000 or $5000!!
  • There is a gold, circle sticker on the inside of the glass that tells you where your ring is.
  • Technically, you are supposed to burn it until that point and then get your ring out. I, however, took a spoon to it. :) patience has never been a virtue of mine.
this was after I put all the wax back in

So you dig and you dig, I mean burn, until you see that shiny glimmer of gold. This is what emerges.
My ring was in the $10 range, but it was beautiful. (the website has guidelines to tell how much your ring is worth) Ready for it????

Ain't she a beauty??? Coulda fooled me with that $10 price tag! I got that rock and a yummy smelling candle!

Diamond Candles is the perfect gift for all the lovely ladies in your life!

Bakery Review : Room for Dessert

This past weekend, I was in Monterey for my birthday. While I was visiting, I had the pleasure of going to Room for Dessert on East Franklin Street. My best friend, Beth, has been there before and I've been wanting to go.

This place was adorable! Pink and white striped walls, banners hanging from the ceilings, cute trinkets to buy. It was like stepping into a little girl's play house.

There was a large selection of baked goods. Cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc! I originally planned on trying the cupcakes (surprise!), but there was only vanilla. So I opted for a Butterscotch Blondie Brownie instead. SO GOOD! It was a big piece and I ate some then and saved the rest for later. My boyfriend got a peanut butter cookie and a "cup-of-cino" (cappuccino). I didn't try the peanut butter cookie, but the cappuccino was great! We paid $9.00 in total and I thought that was reasonable.

The young girl working was very friendly. She even asked what piece of brownie I would prefer. Center piece? End piece? Center, please! She was extremely patient while we made our decisions.

If you are ever in the area, go take a look! You'll love it!
